Take Survey

As a part of the Society’s winter tradition, we will be celebrating our 29th Bonenkai Holiday Dinner on December 15, 2009 at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. The Bonenkai Dinner is one of those rare occasions when a diverse representation of members of the community, including many top Japanese and American business leaders, are gathered together in one place for a time of celebration and enjoyment.

This year has special significance for the JASG as we gather to not only celebrate the holidays and our 29th anniversary, we will be welcoming special musical guest entertainer, Takana Miyamoto. Ms. Miyamoto was accepted to the Berkley College of Music with an honorary scholarship and graduated as an honor student with a dual degree in Film Scoring and Jazz. Her musical achievements include achieving first place in the Randy Edman Jazz Piano Competition in 1998. In 2001, she was accepted as a U.S. permanent resident based on her musical talent, and then she moved to Atlanta where she was given the "Rising Star" recognition from the International Jazz Society. Women Looking Ahead Inc. selected Takana to be one of "Georgia's Most Powerful and Influential Woman" as a composer, and they featured her in their magazine as "an extraordinary talent". In 2004, she graduated from Georgia State University with a master's degree in music.
