Career Field of Internship

The Japan-America Society of Georgia’s (JASG) internship program promotes an individual in several different career fields, including: Event Planning, Fundraising, Foreign Languages, International Business/Relations, and Public Relations.

Organization Description

The Japan-America Society of Georgia is a non-profit organization comprised of Japanese and American corporations and individuals with an interest in Japan and U.S.-Japan relations. JASG’s goal is to raise the level of knowledge among Georgians about Japan and its culture and to help those Japanese relocating here to assimilate into Georgian culture. We provide a forum for the exchange of culture as well as business ties. Our mission is to promote business, commerce, cultural, and mutual understanding between Japan and the State of Georgia.

Internship Description

The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

1) Assisting with social media management and planning of programs.

2) Working with staff to assist the needs of corporate and individual members as well as associate organizations.

3) Compiling research data for fundraising, various business, cultural, and educational projects and office improvement activities.

Intern Qualifications

An individual that is organized, self-determined, willing to learn, and has an interest in the U.S.-Japan relationship or international studies.

To promote business, cultural, educational and social exchange, The Japan-America Society of Georgia offers a unique experience for students and Young Professionals (YPs) interested in US-Japan relations to learn about a Japan-related career in Georgia. By collaborating with industry leaders, mentees have the opportunity to develop valuable professional and life skills while gaining insights into what it takes to be a successful global citizen.

Why Become a Mentee and How Do I Apply?

Mentees will receive the invaluable opportunity to develop communication skills, learn about future career paths, receive invaluable feedback and encouragement, and expand your professional network. As a mentee, students and YPs work with someone senior and experienced who can exchange their knowledge and expertise.

To participate in the Georgia-Japan Mentorship Program, mentees should be a member of The Japan-America Society of Georgia and (1) have an interest in U.S.-Japan relations; (2) have a positive outlook and attitude; (3) be eager and open to learn proactively; (4) be patient, responsive and respectful of mentor's role and time; (5) be comfortable receiving objective feedback and guidance.
